Should I follow a sauna routine?
We recommend familiarising yourself with the instructions in your manual or downloading our Sauna Space e-book for suggestions on how to maximise your sauna use.
How to clean a sauna or remove stains on the wood from sweat?
Unplug the sauna from the power outlet on the wall before cleaning. Use a damp towel to gently scrub sweat stains. Place a towel on the bench to prevent sweat from dripping onto it. This will maintain the appearance of your wood. If there are sweat stains, you can use a chemical free wood cleaner at least once a week. If needed, use 220 grit sandpaper to lightly sand sweat stains from bench surfaces. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleansers inside the sauna.
How long should a typical sauna session last?
This is entirely dependent on the individual and their heat threshold, but we recommend trying between 25-40 minutes to start with.
How long does a Kiva Wellness sauna take to heat up?
Our saunas heat up quickly, but if you are wanting it hot as soon as you jump in, we recommend turning it on for 15-25 minutes before you commence your session, keeping in mind the external temperature and setting.
Is my Kiva Wellness sauna suitable for the outdoors?
Our saunas are not weather proof and are not suitable to be assembled outside unless they are in an undercover area that is waterproof.
How to prevent mould?
Once your session is complete, gently wipe down the wood to remove excess moisture. Also, let the sauna's door stand open for a few minutes so that the sauna can air out. This releases moisture and keeps your sauna wood dry.
What is EMF?
Electromagnetic fields (EMF) are a part of modern-day life. EMF or EMR as it is also known surrounds us with all of the technology we have today. Whilst digital devices remain part of our lives there will always be EMF in some form.
EMF from our saunas is significantly below the levels generally believed to be unsafe which is often discussed above 10mg.
EMF is measured in milligauss (mg). The heating panels in our saunas have been tested between 3cm and 30cm distance from the panel. When tested at a distance of 3cm away from the heating panel, the mg result was just 2.3mg.

Installing the chiller will not take long, but for the water to reach its desired temperature, it might take several hours depending on your location/power source. Covering the pool will reduce this period.

The ice bath can be set up in any location provided there’s fresh air, electrical access and pool filter piping. Do not place the ice bath in an enclosed area with limited air volume where discharged air will be re-circulated. The ice bath should also not be set up in a location where the air inlet could be blocked. These locations deny the ice bath a continuous fresh air supply, which reduces its efficiency and may prevent adequate heat yield.

You should take it slowly so that you can gradually get accustomed to your ice bath and practice easing into the cold by controlling your breath. You know your body best, so always do what feels right for you.
