If you prefer to be a little more covered, you can wear a loose lightweight cotton T-shirt and shorts, but you need to remember that this can hinder the full infrared light from penetrating your skin.

Regardless of what you decide to wear, bringing a towel to sit or lie on is a good idea to absorb sweat and maintain hygiene. We also recommend that you go in barefoot. If you’d rather keep something on your feet, however, thongs are okay.

Remember to remove all initial jewellery before stepping into your home infrared sauna, as metal can burn once it heats up.

Truthfully, there’s no one true answer to this question. The length you stay in a sauna truly depends on personal preference, and how long you would like to remain in the heat.

When starting off in an infrared sauna, you may only want to stay in there for 10-15 minutes while you get used to the intense heat. After you do this for a little while, you can gradually increase your sessions to 30-40 minutes.

The frequency in which you use your home infrared sauna is really up to you. After all, it’s within your home, so you have a luxurious relaxation session right at your fingertips!

You may only want to use your at-home sauna as an end of week treat, unwinding on a Friday or indulging in a Sunday reset. Alternatively, if you frequently exercise or simply want to reap the relaxation benefits that infrared saunas have to offer as often as you can, you may like doing several sessions throughout the week.

Cleaning an infrared sauna is far more straightforward than you may think. After each use, wipe down the surfaces with a towel to remove sweat residue. For a deeper clean, use a natural solution of water and mild detergent or white vinegar. 

Avoid chemical cleaners that can be absorbed by the wood and released during your next session, as this can be harmful both to the longevity of the sauna and yourself. Spray the solution on a cloth and wipe down the surfaces, focusing on high-sweat areas. Always ensure your infrared sauna is unplugged before cleaning. 

For the exterior, dust regularly, and remember to clean the glass doors with a glass cleaner. Lastly, allow the sauna to dry properly before your next session.
